Collard's Childcare & Kindergarten - Mill Park

Collard's Childcare and Kindergarten is a community of professional educators who offer stimulating and engaging early childhood education, to children aged 6 weeks to 6 years of age.   Our educational play based learning centre is located in Mill Park and has been built and designed to reflect a community kindergarten model.  We offer a safe, caring and stimulating, learning environment that is a home away from home for children and families. We value our educators (all staff working with children are called teachers) and their role they play in the lives of children and families.

Hours of Operation:

6.30 to 6pm Monday to Friday

To meet the varied needs of individual families, we are open from 6.30 to 6pm Monday to Friday, 52 weeks a year. Our centre is designed to be a home away from home, for children and families in Mill Park and surrounding suburbs.

We understand that it’s not easy to raise children in today’s busy and fast paced world.   The pressure is on families and children to cram so much in. We work closely with families, to build positive and meaningful relationships. This helps to form a circle of trust, creating a caring environment, where every child is valued and their abilities, culture, interests and routines are planned for and respected.

Service closure dates

Collard Childcare and kindergarten will be closed on all gazetted public holidays:  Australia Day, Anzac Day, Labour Day, Queen’s Birthday, Good Friday, Melbourne Cup Day, Easter Monday, Grand Final Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Day. We will remain open during the Christmas and New Year period.

Educator Qualifications:

The Australian Children’s Education & Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) requires that all educators require a minimum qualification of Certificate III in Children’s Services and at least 50% of educators must have or be actively working towards a diploma level of Education and Care qualification from 2014. All educators attend professional development and training programs throughout the year. This includes training to enhance their skills and knowledge in education of children aged 6 weeks to school age. All staff update their Level 2 First Aid, Anaphylaxis and Asthma as required. All educators  have a current Working with Children Check or are registered with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT).
